Bavaria 38 For Sale

Very reluctantly we are selling this yacht due to retirement. We have owned it from new in 2003 and have kept it in great condition. Contrary to popular opinion, we believe our ex charter yacht is a better buy than a privately owned yacht as we cannot risk the yacht becoming unserviceable high season so everything has to be in order. As an example of this, the standing rigging holding the mast up was replaced in 2014. And sea cocks have to be replaced if they become inoperative. The Jabsco sea toilet is replaced every two or three years. In addition, all safety items have to be in date such as life jackets*, life raft, fire extinguishers*, flare packs, first aid kit, almanacs, charts, gas* and CO alarm certificates. (* these are valid into 2018 as is Sea Start marine break down insurance and possibly accident boat insurance). But the yacht was always lightly used for bareboat charter to only the most experienced and in recent years has almost exclusively been used for charter with ourselves as skipper. The yacht has never been heavily grounded and the last out of water MCA inspection was in 2013 with in water inspection in 2016. The yacht was lifted in May 2017 for annual antifouling and will now reach 8 knots under sail fairly easily. On the subject of performance the yacht has achieved a commendable 260th out of around 1000 yachts in the 2015 Round the Island Race ISC division plus a 5th place in a Cowes Week race in the same year. The yacht has made 8 return trips across the Channel, best time Needles to Alderney eight and a half hours and has voyaged as far away as Jersey. The radar is very useful if Channel crossing at night. There is wheel steering, a furling headsail and slab reefing mainsail with lazy jacks for ease of handling. The yacht is the 3 cabin version. Internal headroom is 1.9m maximum and there is clear permanent passage through to the fore cabin.

There are three cabins with 3 double berths and a single in the saloon which can be made into a double on one of the 38s.
